A Tribute to our youth

The youth of Strathcona County are strong, resilient, and inspiring. But everyone can use an encouraging word from time to time.

This past year has been one of unpredictability and struggle for many. How our youngest generations have been affected by the pandemic is rarely covered in the media.

These kids have grown up watching their older siblings and peers go through experiences—in-person high school graduations, for example—that they may never be able to have themselves.

Some have seen their grades affected by online classes, some have struggled mentally, but all have weathered the same storm as a collective. They have endured. They are the generation that has been patient, understanding, selfless, and hopeful. As our restrictions now lift and life returns to normal, we wish them the utmost success in all areas of their lives!

We recently had the honour of making a film for Strathcona County featuring many talented youth in our community. Among them is Will Brisbin, an upcoming Strathcona County actor who will be starring in the upcoming film Paw Patrol: The Movie as the voice of Ryder. It is thrilling to witness a teenager from Strathcona County appear in a Hollywood film alongside big name celebrities, and even more special to be able to experience first-hand his talent, charisma, and professionalism.

To our youth: we are proud of you. Stay safe, be smart, and live your life to the fullest.
